What can treatment do for you?

Do you remember a time when going out to social activities or getting close to someone didn’t create anxiety or distress? What would it be like if you could change and your past experiences weren’t impacting you?

I’m Elise, and I help adults that want to connect with their values that they’ve lost touch with due to the impact of traumatic experiences.

I help my clients with getting back into social settings without fear, build strong relationships with trust, and improve how they view themselves by equipping them with the tools they need to identify and challenge their unhelpful thoughts that have arisen from trauma.

What are the first steps?

Many individuals seeking trauma therapy feel anxious to open up to a therapist, and often find themselves avoiding seeking help.

I know that the first step can be the hardest, that’s why I collaboratively plan treatment with my clients so they feel in control and comfortable with the process.

First we will meet to explore how your life is going, and how you want it to look. We’ll examine how the trauma is causing some of these difficulties, and set goals that YOU want to achieve.

These goals will be our guide for treatment, and used throughout to check in on progress. You’ll then be presented with different treatment options, and from there we will begin treatment.

Who I am

I am dedicated to helping people heal from trauma.

My training in the treatment of PTSD and trauma means I have expertise you deserve when you’re healing from your past. At the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who understands what it means to be living a life of avoidance. I’ve devoted my career to working with people who have had trauma, and know that getting started is often the hardest part. When we work together, you won’t be treated as just another person that gets the same generic treatment, but as an individual who will need to have their treatment tailored to their level of readiness and goals.

Experience and Education
– PhD Clinical Psychology
– Licensed in Michigan and Colorado
– Postdoctoral Fellowship in PTSD and trauma focused therapies

I am a clinical psychologist currently licensed in the states of Colorado and Michigan. I completed my PhD at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2019 where I focused my research and clinical training on both trauma and physical health. Upon graduation I completed a year-long postdoctoral fellowship where I specialized in treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related concerns. Since that time I have moved back to the Midwest where I have continued to treat PTSD and trauma-related disorders in addition to depression, anxiety, grief and adjustment/stress-related issues. My treatment approach is evidence based, which means I utilize best practices that integrate current research, my clinical experience, and your preferences. I am collaborative and person-centered in my work and am skilled in providing several different modalities of treatment.

Outside of my work I stay busy spending time with my children, husband, and extended family. I love spending time at the beach, discovering new places to hike, baking sweets, trying new recipes off Pinterest, and watching Netflix. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning more about your goals so we can make a plan to get you back to living your life to its fullest potential.
